As we reach the conclusion of our journey through the “Emptied” series, we stand on sacred ground. Having awakened to our pride, aligned our desires with God’s, removed our conditions, and been emptied of ourselves, we are now ready to be filled. “Fill me,” we pray, not with a sense of lacking but with the anticipation of being completed by the fullness of God.
The Apostle Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians captures this longing beautifully: “That you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19). It’s a bold prayer, one that seeks not just a touch from God but an indwelling, a complete saturation of our beings with His presence, love, and power.
Being filled with the fullness of God is not about acquiring something external to ourselves. It is about realizing the depth of God’s presence that is already within usโallowing His Spirit to take full residence in our hearts, guiding our thoughts, shaping our desires, and directing our actions. It’s the natural outcome of the emptying process; for as we make more room for God, we find ourselves increasingly permeated by His being.
This filling transforms us. It recalibrates our priorities, reshapes our identities, and redefines our purpose. No longer do we live for ourselves, but for Him who fills us with His very life (Galatians 2:20). Our actions, our words, and even our thoughts begin to reflect the One who lives within us. The fruits of the Spiritโlove, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-controlโbecome the natural outpouring of our lives, not as a result of our own efforts but as the evidence of His life in us.
As I reflect on this journey of being emptied and filled, I am reminded that it is not a one-time event but a continual process. Each day presents new opportunities to be emptied of self and filled with God. It is a cycle of surrender and filling that draws us ever deeper into intimacy with our Creator and into the life He has called us to live.
In moments of silence, when I pause to listen for God’s voice, I often find myself returning to the simple yet profound prayer: “Fill me.” It’s a prayer of readiness, of openness, and of trust. It’s a prayer that acknowledges that we are never fully complete until we are filled with God.
As we conclude our series, my hope and prayer for each of us is that we would not merely seek the experience of being filled but would live as vessels of God’s fullness to the world around us. May we be so filled with His love that it overflows into every encounter, every conversation, and every aspect of our lives.
